Language and Leadership Summer Camps in Canada
Focus on leadership, self-reflection and positive decision-making
Navigo instructors provide participants with the tools to support meaningful self-reflection and they actively engage participants in conversations about positive decision-making and goal-setting.
Navigo Education Adventures provides international children and youth ages 8 to 17 safe and meaningful educational and outdoor adventure opportunities in beautiful western Canada. By combining skilled, bilingual, and responsible staff with immersive and experiential programming design, students are propelled into their best selves – building knowledge, character and confidence.
Learn, Explore and Discover
Navigo embraces the idea that learning can happen in a variety of ways and places. All our programs are carefully crafted to provide a truly immersive Canadian experience through engagement in the English language and with other Canadian children and youth, participating in cultural events, exploring Canada’s most popular locations and taking camping adventures into some of the most treasured and stunning locations Canada has to offer.
Are you ready to improve your English, develop as a leader and make new friends in a safe environment?
While building aptitude in the English language through immersive and experiential instruction, Latin American students are offered a quintessential Canadian camping experience, coupled with fun and interesting urban adventuring. Our students are also provided the opportunity to share in a language and cultural exchange with Canadian kids their age, providing the ability to develop a deeper understanding of Canadian culture and to create lasting friendships.
Program Weekly Overview>
Week One – Camp Squeah, Hope, British Columbia
We understand the importance of providing the warmest welcome as possible to children who are coming independently from all over the world to experience a new language, culture and travel country. Our staff will be at the Vancouver International Airport to welcome your child and take them to their first one of Navigo’s special camp venues. Camp Squeah is an incredible outdoor centre and camp with comfortable accommodation, tasty food and classic Canadian camp activities.
All campers will send an email, SKYPE and/or WhatsApp within the first 24 hours of arrival. Parents are able to check in with their children on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The first few days are spent helping the kids adjust to their environment, culture and language. Navigo instructors provide a 2 hour English language instruction session each morning, and use their afternoon to participate in outdoor activities, that include swimming, hiking, archery, canoeing, campfires, hiking, camp-wide games and more. This year, campers will participate in Canada’s 150th Birthday Celebration in the nearby town of Hope, BC. Sundays with Navigo are about relaxing, connecting with home and recharging for the following week. For those seeking religious services, Camp Squeah has a beautiful chapel and with worshipping services.
Week Two – Cultus Lake, British Columbia
Every child needs to have the experience of sleeping in a tent, making Smores around the campfire, and watching the sunset as he or she prepares to see the night sky rise above.
The Navigo campers will stay at the popular summer location, Cultus Lake for overnight camping. Staff work with all campers, regardless of experience level, to learn how to prepare a meal over the fire and basic outdoor skills. The campers will continue their English lessons of 2 hours per day and connect with other Canadian children of similar age.
Cultus Lake activities range from beach combing, filmmaking, visiting and making art installations, cooking and one full day at Cultus Lake Water Park. At the end of the week, campers will return to Camp Squeah for a weekend full of fun camp activities.
Week Three – Whistler, British Columbia
Whistler is world famous as an incredible place for kids to explore, play and learn. We have booked an entire ski lodge to serve as our adventure base, accommodation and classroom. Fireside Lodge is an exceptional venue and centrally located in Whistler. Home of the 2010 Olympic and Paraolympic Winter Games, Whistler offers a scenic and comfortable setting for our students to become immersed even more in Canadian culture and outdoor recreation. While in Whistler, campers will stand on top of Whistler Mountain, hike the endless trails, visit the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre, tour the village and continue their immersive language experience. The week in Whistler also offers opportunities to go swimming, play capture the flag, fort building and more.
Week Four – North Vancouver and Vancouver, British Columbia
Campers will enjoy their last week while residing at Camp Capiliano in North Vancouver while joining daily adventures with a local urban day camp as part of their cultural exchange. Activities include visiting the Vancouver Art Gallery, roaming Stanley Park, climbing Grouse Mountain, sailing at Jericho Beach and visiting some Vancouver’s most popular tourist and local attractions.
In their final days, campers will stay at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to complete an ESL exam, enjoy UBC’s beautiful campus, and have the opportunity to explore the city one last time before heading home.
